Garmin Forerunner 405 review

The Garmin Forerunner 405 is a very neat piece of technology that when used correctly can help with running. Garmin has many different tools packed into one watch. How ever there maybe more features than a runner actually needs. One of the to many items is the altimeter that feature is not necessary for an average runner. At least during a run or race i am not scrambling to try and find out what my altitude is but some people may like to know how far above sea level they are. Or another example is the speed at which you are traveling. However the features that I enjoy using and use the most are the average pace, time, distance, and lap pace. The average pace seems to work very well until you compare it to the other people around you that are wearing GPS watches and the time varies more than a few seconds this is only a minor problem. The time is another one that I use when running on a track or on a timed run. With the time you can also figure out your pace when you have your distance at the end of your run. The distance seems very accurate when running and that is one of the big features that is a must for a GPS watch. Lap pace is another very useful feature that I really enjoy using it allows the user to be able to see what their last mile time was or 400 time depending on what you have the laps set for. With the watch I have not had very many dropped signals if any that I can remember. As for the times required to get the satellites there are some occasional problems. Nothing to major as I can always get a signal lock but sometimes it takes awhile while other times it is only a few seconds. Another great feature of the watch is the display. With the display you are able to have multiple bits of information that are easily read while running. The watch also has a wonderful light so you can read the watch at night or on those early morning runs. The watch is a little bit bigger than what I would prefer but I have no problem wearing it to school. The watches battery life could be a little bit better but for having GPS it is not bad. The touch bezel does have some problems sometimes if it gets wet and it can really cause some problems until it is dry, as long as the watch is locked which is very easy to do it will be fine and not cause very many problems. Overall I would recommend this watch to other people being that this watch is well designed I do feel like they tried to squeeze in to many feature into the watch for runner's, and maybe if they did not try to get this watch to do so many things then maybe they could have made the watch smaller or mad a bigger battery.
